AK GOLD Fall/Winter Tryouts
Tryouts for ALL grades will be from September 12th thru September 13th. The tryout cost is $10. Coaching assignments for this coming season will be based on the number of teams we will field for the upcoming season. For your convenience, you may also register for tryouts by filling in the info below (please press SUBMIT when completed). Athletes are expected to tryout with their respective grade. If our coaches determine that it is appropriate for a player to move up a grade, we will have a discussion with the player and her/his family before making a final decision. I would like to ask all current team members that plan on continuing in the fall to register for tryouts as soon as possible. It will help us tremendously in determining what team and coaching needs we may have.
NEW MEMBERS
For those who participated with a different team last year please DO NOT quit your team prior to a notification from AK Gold staff that you have made a roster. The AK Gold program encourages honesty and high integrity among coaches, players and parents. If you are considering leaving your previous team I encourage you to inform your coach of your intention to try-out. I further suggest that you have a conversation with him/her about your decision to participate with another program if the opportunity arises (you are picked for a team). This allows the coach to first learn how he/she can be a better coach as well as allows them to look for additional players should the need arise. We feel that there’s a good way and a bad way to leave a program and we should all strive to leave a program in good standing
GRADE REQUIREMENTS
AK Gold encourages players to do great things on the court as well as off the court. We focus and emphasis on players getting and maintaining good GRADES at all times throughout the season. In order to participate in events and activities we REQUIRE that players maintain a 2.5 GPA. All in-state and out of state travel requires a 3.0 GPA. We suggest that players with a desire to participate in tournaments outside of Anchorage maintain a 3.0 GPA in order to secure their spot on the roster should a travel opportunity arises. If you make a team from these tryouts you will be required to provide us with a copy of your report card/progress report.
